You Said It

12 March 2010, 20:35pm

Sometimes a painting is just a painting... and not a very good one at that.

I am a pretty committed voter for one party, but the pandering to religion from both sides is disturbing. Especially the press conferences in front of church. That's way out of line Rudd. You choose to be a politician, not a minister. Keep your religion separate from your politics, if you can't, go be a minister somewhere.

I think it's about time the media did more serious investigation into how much religion is influencing our politicians. I saw a report into Hillsong church, what about the rest?

I think it's a deep and grubby story that needs airing in the light of proper journalistic inquiry.

If Rudd has the numbers, then he can force his policy through. If he doesn't have the numbers, then he can change his policy to gain support.

Or he can go to the next election, and try to explain to the public why he didn't do either of the above.

Rudd Labor's claim that Howard's Coalition decreased spending on health is a fairy tale. It seems to me that to get more bang for our bucks requires an audit of health areas of spending, and one in particular would be the number of administration personnel and what they do or don't contribute in return for their cost to taxpayers.

I haven't seen Hurt Locker but there seems to be a large contrast between a film that could beat Avatar (I have seen that and was blown away by the whole spectrum of accomplishment in that movie) and one that was going straight to DVD.

Still, I reckon Cameron might check out his bank balance if he wants to cheer himself up.

Good deconstruction of the motivations of the Academy ... it will be interesting to see what is said about Hurt Locker vs Avatar in 10 years.

I still remember as a 17-year-old hearing a band called Skyhooks singing songs about the places in Melbourne where I lived, and was amazed that you could actually sing about your own place, rather than "going down to Memphis " or "California dreamin".

I love world music and enjoy listening to what people have to say from around the world, but I also want our own musicians to tell us (and the rest of the world) about the uniqueness of our own place.

I fear that 'imusic' generation sees music as a mere commodity and as background to their lives, rather than helping us to understand who we are and where we live.

Asking a climate scientist if climate change is likely to be a problem is a bit like asking a barber if you need a haircut.

Lets face it, climate change was never about science, its a nasty little political movement with wealth redistribution and societal reorganisation as its goals.

Mercifully the general public is beginning to wake up to this colossal deception, it really warms to heart to see a grassroots opposition to the lies and propaganda emerge. The truth will prevail.
